A few tables were seated for early dinner one night at Compère Lapin, but the real action at chef Nina Compton’s restaurant was at the bar.
A crowd of mostly women was chatting and circulating as they sipped special rum cocktails and noshed bar snacks from Compton’s menu and also from guest chef Lisa Nelson, of Mid-City’s back street Trinbagonian island soul restaurant Queen Trini Lisa.
It was a different pace for what might’ve otherwise been a slow weeknight in downtown New Orleans in deep summer…
