Elderly man dies after Metairie home fire Saturday morning, Jefferson Parish deputies say

METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal fire that occurred in Metairie on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 1.

At approximately 7:35 a.m., deputies and fire personnel responded to a fire at a single-story home in the 400 block of Elise Avenue.

When they arrived, they witnessed smoke coming from inside the home. Following the fire being extinguished, they located an unresponsive elderly man in the hallway inside the home.

The JPSO said the man suffered from fire-related injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The victim’s identity has not yet been released…
