Reporters, editors and photographers with The New York Times traveled across the country for more than a year touring their favorite Mexican restaurants, including one in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood that combines its owner’s heritage with Gulf ingredients.
Acamaya was one of the 41 greatest Mexican restaurants in the U.S. in a list compiled by the Times. It was the only Louisiana restaurant featured among dozens of food trucks, tasting-menu counters and fine-dining establishments.
