A foul odor drifting from an apartment in the 4500 block of MacArthur Boulevard led New Orleans police to the body of a man who neighbors say had not been seen since August 1. Officers found him lying on the floor in an advanced stage of decomposition, and EMS pronounced him dead at 2:14 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
As reported by WDSU, officers responded to the apartment near Cupid Street after residents complained about the smell. Police say the death is currently classified as unclassified, and that no other information has been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, per the same report.
That 22-day gap between when the man was last seen and when his body was discovered raises questions that police have not yet answered, including whether a missing-person report had been filed at any point during those three weeks.
