Tulane University opens new nursing hub downtown: ‘An important moment’

Tulane University has moved its fledgling nursing program into a newly renovated space in its Downtown Campus Center on Tulane Avenue, the university’s latest shift in its downtown expansion anchored by the Charity Hospital project.

The new space will allow the program to take on more students, university officials said, and help address the ongoing statewide shortage of nurses.

“This really is an important moment for nursing, important moment for the whole medical complex at Tulane University … as well as the city of New Orleans and the region,” Tulane President Michael Fitts said at a ribbon cutting for the new facility Wednesday…
