Tulane University announced in June that it is taking over the long-stalled effort to redevelop Charity Hospital, a historic safety net hospital that closed after Hurricane Katrina. University officials said the $500 million project will transform the site into a biomedical hub.
Construction on the project is planned to start this fall after the university finalizes the sale agreement with former developer 1532 Tulane Holdco. Tulane officials said they hope to move into the building by 2029.
