Three days after a man was jailed on allegations that he ran a large-scale, illegal steroid lab out of his Metairie home, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s narcotics detectives have arrested his 75-year-old mother.
Dana Caruso, mother of Anthony Caruso, was booked Thursday with creation of a clandestine lab, manufacturing of anabolic steroids, drug possession with the intent to distribute, attempted drug distribution, attempted obstruction of justice and illegal use of a firearm in connection with drug activity, said Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony Caruso was arrested Monday after detectives served a search warrant at his Tolmas Drive home in north Metairie, where they allege he was mixing chemicals to create steroids that he sold online and shipped across the country.
Investigators seized more than $1 million worth of powdered steroids, chemicals and other drugs at the Carusos’ home, including insulin, MDMA and ketamine. They also recovered an undisclosed amount of money and a cache of weapons, including 3D-printed firearms, the Sheriff’s Office said…
