An independent expert hired by the state found an Alexandria man mentally incompetent to proceed in a high-profile homicide case in New Orleans.
Trevor Delrie, 24, was arrested on a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in March 2025 after being found in Grant Parish. Earlier, he had been involved in a hit-and-run crash in Alexandria while in a car belonging to the victim, New Orleans resident Michael Craig Hankins, 61.
It was an Alexandria Police Department officer’s “diligent investigative techniques” that led him to believe Delrie might have been involved in a homicide, according to a news release issued by the department after Delrie’s arrest.
