On Friday evening, the San Antonio Spurs hosted the New OrleansĀ Pelicans in Texas.
The game was extremely close, but the Spurs lost by a score of 114-113, and Zion Williamson led the way with 33 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block.
Despite the loss, star rookie Victor Wembanyama had another good performance and put up 16 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three blocks while shooting 7/14 from the field in 28 minutes of playing time.
During the game, the 2023 first-overall pick made an extremely tough shot (h/t NBA TV ).
Wembanyama took a dribble, flipped up a shot (as he got fouled) and made the basket.
With the loss, the Spurs dropped to 10-39 in their first 49 games, which has them as the 15th seed in the Western Conference.
They are 3-7 over their last ten games and are in the middle of a three-game losing streak.
Following the Pelicans, the Spurs will remain in San Antonio to host Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday evening.
