Canal Street Car Thief Rolls Off With Ride, NOPD Turns To Locals

New Orleans police are asking the public to help identify a man accused of hopping into a parked car in the French Quarter, driving off, and leaving detectives to piece together what happened on busy Canal Street.

On Thursday, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) released surveillance stills of a suspect wanted in connection with an auto theft that took place one week earlier. Investigators say the man drove away in a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Canal Street. According to police, the car was later recovered, but they are still working to track down the person behind the wheel.
