Chazfest

The festival was originally founded in part to highlight musicians not invited to perform at Jazz Fest, and it was named for Chaz Leary. There hasn’t been a Chazfest every year, but on its 20th birthday, the festival moves to the Broadside and features Leary’s Washboard Chaz Trio, Happy Talk Band, Helen Gillet, Louis Michot and Leyla McCalla, Rory Danger and the Danger Dangers, TBC Brass Band, Rough Seven and more. There are two music stages, food and more at the Broadside. From noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 29. Tickets $60 plus tax and fees via broadsidenola.com. Louisiana residents can get $50 tickets, plus tax and fees, at the gate.
