Temporary closure announced for part of Camp Street

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans city officials announced a temporary closure in the 1500 block of Camp Street, from Felicity Street to Race Street, set to begin on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:00 a.m.

According to city officials, the closure will last around three weeks to accommodate roadway restoration. Traffic will be rerouted north and south bound on Felicity Street to Prytania Street and Tchoupitoulas Street, down Prytania to Melpomene Street and back to Camp Street. Also, traffic on Magazine Street will be reopened for single vehicle traffic.

The work is part of the $39.4 million DPS01 Watershed (Broadmoor HMGP) Drainage Upgrades and Green Infrastructure Project. It aims to reduce flooding and implement green infrastructure features in the stormwater drainage system. The project is scheduled to be completed by winter 2026…
