FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens (PIX11) — A person is in custody after police encountered an individual with a gun in Far Rockaway, Queens, on Saturday, according to authorities.
Shots were fired just before noon when officers encountered the person at 25-33 Ocean Crest Blvd, officials reported. Additional details on the nature of the incident were not immediately made known.

A social media notice from the NYPD advised residents to avoid the area of Ocean Crest Boulevard and Beach 25th Street due to police activity.
