Demetrius Williams was retrieving items from a parked vehicle when a gray SUV drove past him on Hawthorne Ave. near Feller Drive at 6:10 a.m. An unknown person in the SUV fired two shots at Williams, striking him in the foot. Williams ran after the SUV and fired multiple shots at the vehicle.
Third Precinct Patrol officers responded to 221 Hawthorne Ave., where they arrested Williams, who was attempting to flee in an alleyway. He was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries.
