Sept. 27 (UPI) — A New York City Housing Authority employee died after being struck by a falling tree amid a nor’easter that’s expected to stall over the region into Monday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.
Leighton Brown, 56, died Saturday while at Cypress Hills Houses in Brooklyn, the mayor said in a post on X.
“My thoughts are with his entire family as they deal with this unimaginable loss. May he rest in peace, and may his service to our city never be forgotten.”
Four other people were injured by falling trees during the storm and emergency officials were searching for a missing swimmer off the south shore of Long Island amid the storm, CNN reported…
