A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed, and a 57-year-old man was wounded when a gunman opened fire outside a Harlem apartment building on Wednesday evening, according to the NYPD.
The shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. on West 115th Street near Lenox Avenue, inside the NYCHA King Towers complex. Police flooded the block in the minutes that followed, and the scene left many people in the neighborhood shaken.
What Police Say Happened
Police said the teenager was shot in the stomach. The 57-year-old man was struck in the right hand. Officers were alerted to the gunfire by ShotSpotter, a system of highly sensitive microphones placed around the area to detect gunshots. When they arrived, they found both victims wounded.
Medics rushed both of them to Mount Sinai Morningside. The teen died at the hospital, while the older man was treated for a minor wound. ABC7 New York described him as a bystander.…
