Barbara Walters’ former NYC home back for sale after a buyer walked away from a signed deal

The late Barbara Walters’ former Upper East Side home is back on the market for the lower price of $16.99 million — after a buyer walked away from a signed deal and a hefty deposit, Gimme Shelter has learned.

Walters, the legendary journalist who was an inspiration to generations of women, passed away at age 93 in 2022.

Her full-floor, sixth-floor residence at 944 Fifth Ave. first hit the market for $19.75 million last year.

It entered contract in November 2023, when the price had dipped to $17.75 million.

The five-bedroom, 5½-bath home features Central Park views, and elaborate wood paneling.

The main bedroom suite boasts a woodburning fireplace, two baths, a sitting room-slash-office in red lacquer with a mirrored wall, and a large closet.
