Police: Man arrested at Secaucus Walmart for using his child to help him shoplift

A man was arrested at the Secaucus Walmart on Sunday afternoon for using his child to help him shoplift, threatening to stab store employees when they confronted him, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.

On Sunday at approximately 3:16 p.m., Secaucus police officer responded to Walmart, located at 400 Park Plaza Drive, on a report of a shoplifting and an individual who had made a threat to Walmart employees, Miller said in a statement.

During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect used his child to conceal items and shoplift. When he was approached by loss prevention he threatened to stab them. No knife was found at the time of arrest or brandished, the police chief told HCV.
