NEW YORK (PIX11) — Another inmate at Rikers Island died in custody on Monday, according to the Department of Correction.
Officials said 41-year-old Rajpattie Ramkellawan died after experiencing a medical emergency on Monday. The Department of Correction said she mainly stayed at the Rose M. Singer Center.
“Our hearts are heavy with the tragic loss of an individual in our care. We are working with investigators to determine the cause and the circumstances of this tragedy. We extend our deepest sympathies to her friends, family and loved ones,” Commissioner Stanley Richards said in a statement…
