Armed Popeyes Employee Threatened Co-worker Before Fleeing Lackawanna Plaza, Police Say

An armed Newark man has been charged after allegedly threatening a co-worker with a rifle inside Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at Lackawanna Plaza on Sunday before fleeing the scene, according to the Montclair Police Department.

Police responded at about 6:50 p.m. June 26 after a report of an armed individual inside the restaurant. Officers evacuated the building, set up a perimeter and searched the area.

An officer later attempted to stop a gray 2024 Honda Prologue leaving the parking lot, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, police said. Glen Ridge and Orange police pursued the vehicle before losing sight of it…
