Residents in towns across Essex County will gather this week to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, with memorial ceremonies, vigils and other observances planned throughout the county.
Here’s how the anniversary will be observed around Essex County this week:
Essex County — Friday, 8 a.m.
Essex County will hold its annual “Essex County Remembers” ceremony at the county’s Sept. 11 memorial at Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange.
The program will include family members who lost loved ones in the attacks, elected officials and clergy members. Memorial wreaths will be laid and a new American flag raised. A string quartet will perform at the memorial following the ceremony and into the afternoon…
