N.J. man who killed himself during SWAT standoff was wanted in missing woman’s murder, records show

The Bergen County man who police said fatally shot himself in Lyndhurst this week while trying to avoid arrest was charged with murdering a woman who disappeared more than a year ago.

Brendan R. Trivisonno, 38, the homeowner of the house where the SWAT standoff occured, was charged for a murder that allegedly occurred March 10, 2025, in Elizabeth, according to a warrant issued in Union County.

In 2025, Trivisonno told NJ.com that police had been questioning him about the disappearance of a woman he had been in a relationship with, Janaina Freire Goncalves, 47, who was last seen on March 10, 2025.
