A driver died on Sunday after his car ran off the road and struck a tree in Union County.
The crash was reported at 8:14 a.m. near the intersection of North Avenue and Riverside Drive in Hillside. As the car was traveling southbound on North Avenue, it veered into the opposing lane before hitting a tree on the front lawn of a home, the Hillside Police Department said in a statement.
The driver, identified as 37-year-old Jose Cardona, was transported to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said. Police have not been able to confirm his residency information…
