Norfolk Sheriff’s Office warns of fake jury duty calls

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to the community about a scam call involving jury duty.

According to a Facebook post, the scammer poses as Captain Gill with the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office and tells the citizens they missed jury duty and need to pay a fine.

The sheriff’s office says employees will never call asking for money. Correspondence regarding jury duty is always conducted in person through deputies or through a summons posted on residential doors…
