NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A fire damaged a home on Dimmock Avenue in Newport News Thursday evening, the city’s fire department said.
Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire around 5 p.m. and were at the scene within four minutes and had the fire under control by about 6:15 p.m.
No one was reported injured, and one person was displaced.
Crews were rotated due to the high heat Thursday. The resident in the home heard the smoke detectors, saw smoke and was able to get out of the home before the fire department arrived…
