SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – First responders are gearing up for a busy holiday weekend, and the heat isn’t making their jobs any easier.
With a major heat wave coming through the area, the Suffolk Department of Fire and Rescue is making sure crews are safe when responding to incidents.
“We lose a tremendous amount of fluid because your body is still trying to cool itself off,” said Capt. Roger Stinnette of Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue. “It’s still trying to sweat, but our gear doesn’t let us do that.”…
