PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect was shot and killed by police during a hostage situation in Portsmouth Sunday afternoon, according to a spokesperson.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a domestic assault near the intersection of Pullman Avenue and Turnpike Road at approximately 3:53 p.m.

Upon arrival, units witnessed a white male suspect strike a woman with a vehicle prior to fleeing the scene.
“They could physically see a female being run over by an SUV. Not only was she run over, but she was also stabbed as well,” said Portsmouth Police Chief Stephen Jenkins. “She’s in stable condition. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.”…
