Man pleads guilty to selling gun used in ODU shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The man accused of providing a gun to the Old Dominion University terrorism suspect pleaded guilty to four of the seven counts against him Friday morning during his hearing.

In court, Kenya Chapman, 32, pleaded guilty to three counts of making a false statement while purchasing a gun and one count of dealing a firearm without a license.

10 On Your Side has learned through investigators that Chapman sold Jalloh the gun the night before the shooting. According to court documents, Chapman told investigators he stole the handgun from a vehicle in Newport News before selling it to Mohamed Jalloh, 38, for just a $100, and the gun’s serial number was partially altered.

He admitted to selling the gun to Jalloh, who investigators say barged into a building on campus March 12 and killed ROTC instructor LTC Brandon Shah. Two other people were injured in the shooting.

ROTC students in the class were able, along with Shah, to contain the shooter, who was “rendered no longer alive.”…
