Portsmouth City Hall closed for third day due to HVAC issues

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth City Hall will be closed for the third day in a row following ongoing HVAC issues.

In a statement, City Public Affairs Officer J.D. Summer attributed “aging” for the increase of problems in the building’s HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. The City Hall was built in the late 1970s.

“I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. The city is committed to doing everything possible to get the building open again without jeopardizing the health and safety of the staff and citizens,” said City Manager Steven Carter…
