6 displaced after attic fire on Mount Vernon Avenue

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — Six people are temporarily displaced after an attic fire Wednesday evening on Mount Vernon Avenue, according to the City of Williamsburg Fire Department.

Units from the City of Williamsburg Fire Department, James City County Fire Department and York County Department of Fire and Life Safety were dispatched to the 1300 block of Mount Vernon Avenue at approximately 6:55 p.m. for a reported residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the roof and rear of the building. Firefighters immediately entered the building and discovered smoke and fire in the attic area. Water was placed on the fire around 7:05 p.m.
