VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach unveiled a new all-terrain wheelchair Monday, according to a post from the park onFacebook.
According to Virginia State Parks, the wheelchairs are intended to give people with mobility impairments the chance to enjoy outdoor recreational areas. The wheelchair is free and available to children and adults, but must be reserved 48 hours in advance. The community can reserve a wheelchair here.
Unlike the all-terrain wheelchairs at the other state parks that have tracks, the wheelchair at First Landing State Park features pneumatic rubber wheels and intuitive controls that allow users to easily navigate through trails.
