NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Arts Festival, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and TORCH are holding a benefit concert for The Muse Writers Center at the Harrison Opera House on Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will explore America’s story as the nation celebrates its 250th year. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will play alongside acclaimed historian and narrator Clay Jenkinson for America Coming of Age—an exploration of three American voices: Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Henry David Thoreau.
Jenkinson’s narration will take the audience on a journey through the thoughts of Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Thoreau, while the Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform pieces that showcase the landscape and emotions of the different American eras…
