Lafayette parents warned, children cited in reckless e-moto crackdown

(KRON) — Three parents were warned and three children were cited in separate incidents involving reckless riding on e-motorcycles around downtown Lafayette Thursday. According to the Lafayette Police Department, an officer attempted to stop and educate juveniles riding recklessly on e-motos that were not street legal.

In two different incidents, the juveniles refused to stop and instead, sped away doing wheelies. Police did not pursue due to public safety concerns.

However, after reviewing the incidents and speaking with witnesses, the juveniles were identified.

The officer who attempted to initiate the stop later met with the juveniles and their parents. The officer cited the juveniles for being unlicensed drivers. The parents were warned that if their children were caught riding the vehicles again, they could be cited for child endangerment…
