(KRON) — Police in Antioch are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with employees of a vendor stand outside the Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services building.
Antioch Police Department officers responded Tuesday, June 9, at 2:38 p.m. to the county building at 4545 Delta Fair Boulevard on the report of a battery that occurred at an outdoor phone vendor stand. Police learned that the 59-year-old customer, later identified as Paul Lawson, “had been involved in a verbal and physical fight with employees of the vendor stand,” police wrote.
During the altercation, Lawson fell and was seriously injured. He told first responders that he could not move.

“Witness statements regarding the circumstances of the fall vary,” Antioch PD wrote, “with some indicating he stumbled over a chair and others reporting he may have been pushed during the fight.”…
