Bay Area will cool down for holiday weekend — but here’s where weather will be nicest

Below-normal temperatures are forecast across the Bay Area this weekend as slow-clearing clouds and areas of drizzle continue.

A weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere raising the threat of lightning-sparked wildfires in parts of Northern California is unlikely to trigger thunderstorms in the Bay Area. Instead, it’ll deepen the marine layer to nearly 2,500 feet high, enough for drizzle to reach even the summit of Mount Tamalpais.

Swirling winds off the coast will continue at least one more day. That pattern favors southwest winds in the North Bay, and late-clearing clouds. Temperatures in parts of Wine Country may not get above 70 degrees Friday, more than 10 degrees below normal…
