Video: Brazen San Francisco shoplifters busted near Gap store

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Police Department is combating rampant shoplifting in the city by conducting more blitz operations around stores to immediately catch thieves in the act.

SFPD released video Tuesday showing two brazen thieves snatching stacks of pants from a Gap clothing store and quickly walking out without paying. (Watch in the video player above).

The duo was nabbed by police officers shortly after and charged by prosecutors.

Within the last six months, SFPD officers have made 844 retail theft arrests, an increase of 27% compared to the previous six months. Officers also recovered $410,000 in stolen merchandise in the past year, police officials said…
