Bay Area thrift shoppers may start seeing some pretty big changes at Goodwill stores. The nonprofit is moving toward larger “superstore” locations, starting with its recently opened Fairfield store. It has already drawn thousands of shoppers and is now the largest Goodwill location in the region.
For years, many Goodwill stores around the Bay Area have worked out of fairly small retail spaces. That means less room for merchandise and less space to sort and process incoming donations.
Goodwill says the larger stores will give it more room to handle donations, get merchandise onto the sales floor faster, and keep more donated items available for shoppers in the area rather than sending them somewhere else.
