(KRON) — A beloved Bay Area craft beer institution that shut down last year is mounting what may have seemed like an unlikely comeback. San Leandro’s 21st Amendment announced last September that it would be closing both its San Francisco taproom and San Leandro brewery in November.
The news rocked the craft beer community with many mourning the loss of the innovative brewery that launched beloved classics like “Hell or High Watermelon,” “Brew Free! or Die,” and “Amendment Lager.” At the time, the brewery cited a major decline in sales and an overall contraction in the larger American craft beer market.

Over the weekend, however, good news broke for fans of the Bay Area-born brewery. Four of 21st Amendment’s most popular brews will be returning this summer, thanks to Evil Genius Beer Company. The Philadelphia brewery is resurrecting “Hell or High Watermelon,” “Brew Free! or Die” West Coast IPA, its citrus-infused variant, “Brew Free! or Die Blood Orange,” and the classic “Amendment Lager.”
