Elected officials arrested as May Day protest shuts down Departure level roadway at SFO International Terminal

(KRON) — The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) announced Friday it had temporarily closed the International Terminal Departures roadway due to a May Day protest. However, as of 1 p.m., all lanes on the upper and lower roadway levels had reopened, SFO said.

During the protest, several San Francisco and Bay Area elected officials were arrested.

San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan was among those arrested. According to a representative, she was arrested, cited and released after attending the protest “in support of fair wages for airport workers.”

“Our workers deserve fair pay, fair contracts, and health care,” said Chan, who is running for Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat. “And we are demanding that our workers get those benefits and fair pay right now.”…
