A judge on June 3 granted an attorney’s request to withdraw from the defense team for Albert James Shell Jr., who is charged with first-degree murder in the 2023 shooting death at the Paddock Mall.
In her five-page motion, lawyer Jenna Finkelstein, who’s second chair in the case, listed multiple reasons to withdraw. The lead attorney on the case is Daniel M. Hernandez, who was not present at the hearing.
Among Finkelstein’s reasons: Of the 14 murder cases she’s presently handling, 11 – including the Shell case – are death penalty cases. Also, many of those cases require “substantial preparation and travel between jurisdictions.”…
