Hit-and-run driver sentenced in crash that sent man in golf cart to ER

A hit-and-run driver has been sentenced in a 2024 crash that sent a man in a golf cart to the emergency room.

Jason Michael McCray, 50, of Fruitland Park, pleaded guilty this past month in Sumter County Court to charges of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal mischief. He has been placed on probation for two years.

A man had been driving a golf cart on Priddy Way in Middleton when he was struck by a black Ford F-150 pickup. The golf cart driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the UF Health Emergency Room Clinic at Brownwood, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
