A suspect has been tracked down after allegedly stealing $5,000 worth of artificial grass from a construction site in Oxford.
Omar Franciscomata, 30, of Mascotte, is facing a felony charge of grand theft in connection with the heist, which occurred on the afternoon of May 10.
According to a warrant affidavit from the Wildwood Police Department, officers were dispatched the following day to a construction site. The victim reported the artificial grass missing and told police he had recently set up a camera at the site because a similar theft had occurred in the past.
The camera’s footage showed a red pickup truck pulling up to the gated community. A man, later identified as Franciscomata, exited the driver’s side, unlocked the gate and backed the truck down a dirt path leading to the artificual turf…
