An Oxford man was arrested after allegedly giving a woman a black eye and later resisting a deputy’s attempts to put him in handcuffs.
Billy Don Marney, 57, was taken into custody early Sunday morning by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on charges of domestic battery causing bodily harm and resisting an officer without violence.
According to an arrest report, a deputy responded to an Oxford residence at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in reference to a domestic battery. A woman told the deputy that about a week prior, she and Marney had visited her stepmother’s home in Lake Panasoffkee. When the woman stated she wanted to leave, an argument ensued. During the altercation, Marney allegedly grabbed her by the hair and began hitting her in the head.
