DUI suspect refuses to submit to breath test after crash in Leesburg

An Apopka man was arrested for DUI after crashing into another vehicle and blankly staring at it when asked to explain what happened.

Officers responded to an accident involving 47-year-old Cory Frederick Silcox at the Mobil gas station on 225 E North Boulevard at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

When law enforcement approached the window of his red pickup truck, they could smell alcohol on his breath and saw his glossy eyes. He stumbled as he stepped out of the vehicle and immediately leaned back on it. They then asked him to explain what happened, the report said.

Silcox stated he was driving north and entered the turn lane for North Canal Street. When he turned, he crashed into the other vehicle. An officer asked him to walk over to the sidewalk and show where he was turning from, during which Silcox stumbled and swayed back and forth, the report said…
