A Summerfield woman who was arrested for drunk driving last month found herself behind bars yet again after leading police on a late-night chase because she didn’t want her car towed.
Laurie Webb, 52, was spotted by a Belleview police officer at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, turning her tan Subaru sedan onto Southeast 65th Court. A quick license plate check revealed Webb’s driver’s license was suspended following a July DUI arrest in which she refused to provide a breath sample.
The officer activated his emergency lights and pulled Webb over at Southeast 108th Street. However, the moment the officer opened his patrol car door, Webb hit the gas and fled eastbound.
The officer, joined by a second unit, pursued the Subaru onto Southeast 67th Street until Webb finally pulled into a residential driveway. She stepped out of the vehicle with her hands raised in surrender…
