Marion woman allegedly swings hatchet at man sitting in recliner during argument

A 53-year-old Marion County woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after she allegedly threatened a man with a hatchet and repeatedly struck the recliner he was seated in during a verbal altercation.

On Sunday, August 23, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a residence in Salt Springs following a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a woman, identified as Rita Doris Wilson, who stated that she had been arguing with the victim “for hours,” according to the arrest report.

The deputy then interviewed the victim, who reported that Wilson had arrived at the residence at around 6 p.m., prompting an argument over an incident that had occurred earlier that morning. According to the victim’s statement, he was sitting in his recliner when Wilson “armed herself with a hatchet.”…
