OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – The public is cautioned to stay aware of the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Weir. The algae can cause skin irritation and illness if swallowed in large amounts.
The Florida Department of Health in Marion County says water testing is underway at Lake Weir. The blue-green algae has the potential to produce toxins, according to DOH-Marion County.
