A Summerville man was arrested for DUI after crashing into an SUV at a Mobil gas station.
An officer responded to a Mobil gas station, located at 225 E North Blvd., for a traffic crash involving 69-year-old Robert Lee Givens around 9:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that a white Ford pickup truck had struck a red SUV in the roadway adjacent to the business.
A witness stated that Givens had been drinking and picked her up from a party. He was drunk, and she warned him about the car and the red light before the crash. Law enforcement later discovered an unopened 16-oz Heineken beer in the backseat, the report said.
As an officer approached Givens in his truck, he noticed a fruity scent indicative of alcohol. Givens was then asked to step out of the vehicle, during which he dropped his things on the ground, had trouble standing and nearly fell multiple times. He used his truck to walk, but when standing still, he had a hunched-over posture and needed law enforcement’s help to keep from falling, the report said…
