The Villages Public Safety Department and law enforcement were summoned to a domestic ruckus when an intoxicated man fought with his lady friend over golf cart keys.
John Patrick Jones, 74, was “drunk and breaking property inside the house” he shares with his lady friend at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She had called 911 after Jones shoved her during a dispute over keys to a golf cart.
When police arrived at the home, they discovered “books scattered all over the dining room floor along with broken glass.” They noted that Jones, a Philadelphia native who currently has a Virginia driver’s license, was intoxicated to the point that officers wanted EMS to “check his altered mental state.” He was able to answer cognitive questions but was “severely impaired.”
