Marion property owners seeking permits for emotional support goats, rooster

One property owner with three goats in Dunnellon and another with a rooster in Ocala are asking Marion County officials for a special permit to keep the creatures as emotional support animals.

The requests from the property owners to keep farm animals on their residentially zoned properties will come before the Marion County Board of County Commissioners during its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 6.

In the first request, Rafael and Iris Marrero are asking county officials to allow three goats named Olaf, Daisy, and Rosie on their 0.95-acre property located at 6552 SW 202nd Court in the Rainbow Acres subdivision in Dunnellon.

The application follows a June code enforcement inspection that cited the property for housing goats, a rooster, guinea fowl, and excess chickens in violation of Single-Family Dwelling (R-1) zoning regulations…
